Day 178 – A Photo of Jack

June 27, 2011

Took my camera to Chrissie and Zach’s, along with lunch and took some portraits of Jack.  I love how this one turned out.  Chrissie’s cousin Laurie was there too….and she was also taking photos…I’m sure they will probably go up on their website.

Day 174 – Baby Jack is Here!

June 23, 2011

Baby Jack was born around 9 am this morning. He’s 7 pounds 1 ounces and doing well.

Day 173 – Baby Alert!

June 22, 2011

My daughter went to the doctor today(her due date is July 19th)….anyway….she’s having some issues with her heart and they want to deliver the baby tomorrow instead of waiting for her to go into labor.  The baby is already over 6 lbs…so there’s no worries about endangering the baby.  I haven’t been told what time yet tomorrow…hoping for a morning deliver so I don’t have to take time off from work.  Will update soon.

I was at Chrissie and Zach’s tonight when Laurie, Chrissie’s cousin, took pregnancy photographs.  I brought my camera and took some photos too.  I took this one that Chrissie said I could post on my blog.  Jack will be delivered in the morning at 7:30am.  Can’t wait to meet him!  CLICK TO ENLARGE PHOTO

Day 164 – RIP Bob

June 13, 2011

On Friday the 10th, we had to put our kitty Bob to sleep.  He had recently started acting strangely, not eating and just not his normal self.  We took him to the vet on Wednesday and they took blood tests….and 3 x-rays after a physical examination by the veterinarian.  The doctor couldn’t find anything physically wrong with him…no broken or fractured bones….and the lab results came back the next day that he had a low white blood count.  All organs, kidney, liver, etc. were functioning in the normal range.  We kept Bob inside all day Wednesday to monitor him.  He hid ALL day long under the couch or under a cabinet that had room for him to get under.  When we went to bed, I gathered him up and took him into our bedroom.  In the morning on Thursday, I found him in our bedroom closet having found a smallish suitcase to lie on….and he was sleeping in his own urine.  SO SAD!  After I got the doctors lab results…we decided he needed 24 hr care to get him eating again….and hydrated since he hadn’t eaten anything recently that we knew of.  We took him around noon to the Emergency Vet Services that has 24/7 services.  They started him on an IV drip to hydrate him….and gave him several shots, Vitamin B12, antibiotics…and anti-nausia medication so they could try to get some food in his tummy.  By Friday at 4:30am he was starting to have seizures.  Then they gave him Valium and some barbiturate to control the seizures.  It was 6pm on Friday when I made the decision to put him to sleep.  He wasn’t going to get any better according to the vet.  (They think he may have eaten a mouse that was infected with some sort of parasite that goes to the brain).  I went down there….spent about 10 minutes with Bob saying my goodbyes, and stayed with him when the assistant put him to sleep.  Bob had recognized that I was there, I believe because as I was petting him and saying my goodbyes….he was just barely wagging his little tail.  That was the hardest day I’ve had in a very long time!  We brought him home and Zach was kind enough to dig a big hole in the backyard next to where we laid Patches down several years back.  Tony was a work, but he and I had already built a box to bury him in that morning because it didn’t look good from the news we had that he had started seizing.  So we showed 2 Socks Bob’s little body….Chrissie thought 2 Socks might be looking for him if we didn’t.  Don’t really know if he understood what he was seeing, but the past 2 days, I’ve seen him laying out in the cool dirt on top of where we buried Bob.  I’d like to think he does know that his little buddy is buried there and he’s watching over him now.

Here’s a picture of Bob I took in April or May.

Day 159 – Kayden, Preston and Daddy Pic

June 8, 2011

Here’s a picture I took of Preston, Kayden and Johnny and ran an action on the photo to turn it black and white with a vignette.

Here is another one I took…this is Johnny holding Kayden.  I wish Kayden had been looking more toward the camera….but I still like this photo even though he isn’t.

Day 155 – Home From the Hospital

June 4, 2011

Amy, Johnny and Kayden came home from the hospital today.  Preston is happy to have them home again, but he’s been a good boy for grandma!  Here’s a picture of Kayden I took at the hospital yesterday,

Day 153 – A Long Day

June 2, 2011

Preston woke up this morning at 1:15am, only I saw 713 on the DVR and I thought it was 7:13am in the morning! Even though there was no light out yet…I was sound asleep when I got woken up! He was upset and crying for his mommy and daddy. He cried long enough, I texted Johnny(thinking it was 7:13am) When I got into the kitchen….the BIG clock in there said 1:15! I was like “Oh no! I woke Johnny up at 1:15am! Anyway…he came to the house, which is only about 2 miles from the hospital to calm Preston down….and put him back to sleep. He slept until 6:30am then. So I’m tired tonight! I just got Preston to bed….it’s 9:45pm. going to hit the rack early tonight in case Preston does this again tonight. Here’s a picture I took at the hospital this evening of Preston, Kayden, Johnny and Amy.

Day 152 – A New Arrival

June 1, 2011

Well Johnny started texting me this morning that Amy was at the hospital with strong labor.  At 8:30 am she delivered a beautiful baby boy, Kayden Taylor Drolette.  He is fair skinned….dark haired, weighed in at 7 lbs., 3 oz. and is 20 inches long.  He looks just like Preston looked when he was born.  I went to work this morning and there isn’t a lot I could do yet, because I had to call HR to have them put me back into the Elink system and that takes 24-48 hrs.  So I worked a 1/2 day and my boss let me take personal time for the 4 remaining hrs of the day and personal days for Thursday and Friday.  Then I’m on vaca for 2 wks.  I’ll post a picture tomorrow.
