Day 181 – My Blouse All Fixed Up Now

June 30, 2010

I think this turned out really well!  Considering that I had a couple very noticeable black spots on the front of my mostly white blouse from my ink pen….I can definitely live with this!  :o)  Saved my $38.00 brand new blouse!!!

Day 180 – Dyeing My Blouse

June 29, 2010

I bought this really pretty blouse recently and I only wore it one time…..I was at the grocery store when my ink pen kind of sprung a little leak and got on my WHITE blouse.  That blouse cost me $38.00!!  And I thought it was ruined!  Then I thought….what if I dye it?  So here is my blouse on the stove in a pot of dye.  It is currently outside drying in the air.  I will take another pic of it…and post tomorrow.  I didn’t want to dye the whole blouse because along the bottom edge, it has this beautiful black embroidery.  So I thought I would try to partially dye it.  I figure if it doesn’t look good….I can re-dye it later.

Day 179 – Another Preview

June 28, 2010

Last week in my class, our instructor said we could have 3-6 papers and 3-6 embellishments.  The last lesson…the 2nd instructor who will be looking these kits over now says only 3 of each…..so I had to whittle my kit down to only 3 papers and 3 embellishments.  Not too easy!

Day 178 – Mini-Kit Preview Finished

June 27, 2010

I’ve been working on my mini-kit preview for my class…the kit will have 6 papers…..6 embellishments; although it looks like more embellishments…I’m grouping the alpha example….and the “You Make Me Smile” sticker and button…..and the 2 little label tags, I am counting as one.  Here’s the preview.

I uploaded my mini-kit to Jessica’s website(http://www.jessicasprague.com).  You can download my kit here: http://www.jessicasprague-m3.com/downloads/ArtofDigitalDesign/kits/KD_ClearlyColeusMiniKit.zip

Day 177 – Old Faithful of California Video

June 26, 2010

Yesterday we went up to Napa Valley and the Calistoga area.  Here’s a short video of the geyser.

Tony and I met up with Amy, Johnny and Preston for dinner.  We had a wonderful dinner on the patio of the Rutherford Grill.  Here is a picture of Preston and me.

Day 176 – We Went to Napa Today

June 25, 2010

We drove up to the Napa Valley today and went to the OLD FAITHFUL of CALIFORNIA.  Tony had never been there.  We got to see it in action 4 times.  It erupted about every 10 minutes for about a minute-and-a-half.  The last time I was there. It erupted about every 40 minutes and lasted for about 3 minutes.  The lady said it’s spewing more often because of all the rain they’ve had lately.

Day 175 – Logo Tweaked

June 24, 2010

I played a little more with this logo.  I like the added changes better.

Day 174 – Logo

June 23, 2010

Today’s lesson was on logos.  I made this in Illustrator CS4 with the Decker Font.  I edited the font to make the letters run together with the little loops…and made the flower on an elongated “L”.

Day 173 – Red Tomatoes

June 22, 2010

These tomatoes are so red! I bought a little plant from the grocery store about 3 weeks ago that had little green tomatoes on it….and now they are all ready to eat.  Too bad I’m not a big tomato lover!!!  I like them chopped up very small……like on tacos.  I guess it’s time to fix tacos!!!

Day 172 – Father’s Day Card

June 21, 2010

This is the card I made for Tony for Father’s Day.  I kind of copied (thanks Sheri) a card I got from my best friend Sheri.  Her’s was very similar to this one….but had an added ribbon on it. I thought a ribbon  might be too much for a Father’s Day card.

Day 171 – Kit Sampler

June 20, 2010

This is close to being finished.  This is a preview of the kit I’ve been working on with embellishments added to the outside of the kit.  I have changed up the design a bit…I think I like this better than the oval title….there wasn’t much room to put embellishments on the front with that design.  Click to enlarge to see the full pic…the right had side is cut off slightly in the image below.

Day 170 – Torn Paper and Combining Elements

June 19, 2010

Today I learned how to create the look of torn paper by actually tearing a piece of cardstock….scanning it into the computer….and refining the edges and creating a mask so you can clip the torn paper edge to any paper.  I quickly added in a background patterned paper and a couple of the new embellishments I made the other day and here is an example of what my kit will look like when combining elements.

Day 169 – “Epoxy” Button Look

June 18, 2010

Here are 4 “epoxy” buttons that can be teamed with the word art “You Make Me”.  The background “paper” I made a couple weeks ago.  They will all be part of the same digital kit.

Day 168 – I Learned Another Cool PS Technique

June 17, 2010

In my lesson 19,  Jessica showed us how to make a custom shape to put text into and make the Big Drop Cap for the very first letter.  This is very cool.  I loved learning this!  Here’s my example.  On my big letter “T”, I had to turn that into a rasterized layer because the little curly line was going over the top of the “ing” and blocking it.  By rasterizing the layer…I was able to use the eraser tool to erase enough of the curly cue to see the “ing”.

Day 167 – Calendar Embellishment

June 16, 2010

Here’s a calendar embellishment I made for my kit.  The idea is that you would circle the year…..month…..day of the week…..and day of your event.
